Anglicized form of Ruaidhrí. It is usually a masculine name, though it became somewhat popular for girls in the United States after being used on Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) as a nickname for Lorelai. In America, however, the name has become more common for boys, especially since 2011, perhaps influenced by Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy (1989-).
