Meaning and history
Ruaidhrí is an Irish masculine name formed from ruadh, “red,” and rí, “king,” giving the meaning “red king.” It is an older spelling of Rory. Ruaidhrí Ua Conchobair, the twelfth-century king of Connacht and last high king of Ireland before the Norman invasion, is its best-known bearer.
