Rosita is a Spanish affectionate diminutive of Rosa, meaning “little rose.” Rosa derives directly from the Latin word for the flower, which became associated in Christian symbolism with love, martyrdom, and the Virgin Mary. Rosita is also used independently across Spanish-speaking communities and beyond. Notable bearers include British explorer and writer Rosita Forbes and Chilean singer Rosita Serrano.
