Sharron is an English spelling variant of Sharon. Sharon comes from the Hebrew place name Sharon, meaning “plain,” referring to the fertile coastal Plain of Sharon in Israel. The biblical phrase “rose of Sharon” strengthened its religious and floral associations, while modern English use developed mainly in the twentieth century. Sharron retains the same origin despite its doubled consonant. Notable bearers include British Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies and American former politician Sharron Angle, who served in the Nevada Assembly.
