Meaning and history
Latinized form of Kore. It was not used as a given name in the English-speaking world until after James Fenimore Cooper employed it for a character in his novel The Last of the Mohicans (1826). In some cases, it may also be a short form of Cordula, Corinna, and other names beginning with a similar sound.
Cora moved from #103 to #113 for girls between 2024 and 2025. Its highest annual birth count came in 2019, with 3,602 births.
