Dorinda is an English, Spanish, and Portuguese feminine name, probably an elaboration of Dora with the suffix -inda. Dora can shorten Greek names containing doron, “gift,” such as Theodora, while some uses may have developed through literary invention. The complete name therefore does not have one securely established ancient translation. It appeared in early modern pastoral literature. Notable bearers include British actor Dorinda Stevens and American television personality Dorinda Medley.
