Meaning and history
Lorrin is an English given name used for more than one gender, generally treated as a spelling variant of Loren or Lauren. These forms ultimately relate to Laurence, from Latin Laurentius, meaning “from Laurentum,” although modern association with laurel is widespread. The spelling may also have developed independently in individual families. A notable bearer was Lorrin A. Thurston, a Hawaii-born lawyer, newspaper publisher, and political figure involved in the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy.
